Tribute To Hilre

By Anna Kalma - Posted on 15 April 2022

Hilre Petersen passed away of a massive heart attack in her chair at home on the 4th April.

Hilre did not want a funeral but as Rex her son explained you can’t always have the last say mum.

Your family and friends want to be able to celebrate a life well lived and a lady well loved.

This is exactly what happened when we gathered for her funeral on Monday. Rex explained that we should just chat about Hilre and of our part in her life.

Family and friends shared their memories and moments of joy spent with Hilre over the years.

The family shared memories of I pads, friendship, golf games and many more occasions spent with Hilre.

Then we had her birthday girls – 8 ladies all born on 8th February who shared many good time over the years. There were her golfing friends who remembered how competitive Hilre used to be at golf. There were also her friends at bridge who shared many good days with Hilre at the bridge table.

Barbara Keys said a few words for those of us from bridge that
considered Hilre a friend.

It was a lovely fitting way to say goodbye to a special lady that had lived a good life shared by many, both family and friends.
