Te Aroha March Newsletter

This month, we look back to the Gold Coast experience of many of our members.....

see where the old bridge club sign has gone (you may be surprised!)

check out on the Area Pairs and two Tuesdays with Thames...and check on the new players

There’s some more “Wisdom of Solomon”, also how he bid perfectly for 0% on one board.....

who’s been burning the cakes...oops, sorry, sausage rolls....

and who has been promoting our club internationally...and that’s really good news. Click here for the podcast for Sorry, Partner. https://play.acast.com/s/sorry-partner/65e7fafac247d30016f88806

Hermanna Hemmes and the latest Te Aroha newsletter

Attached is the newsletter which sadly contains an obituary to Hermanna.

Hermanna HemmesHermanna Hemmes

A service to remember her will be held on Monday 4th March at 11am at the Morrinsville Baptist Church on Moorhouse street. Would be great to see all her friends and bridge whanau.

It was a really sad way to end the month and to end the Gold Coast Bridge Congress for the 8 from the club who attended, including Anna and Guy.

Richard's issue attached features Hermanna and her introduction and love of the game and includes a hand that she played from one of the 5 sessions of bridge she played last week!

It also includes more news about Anna and some more bridge advice...about not dropping partner and not covering honours. ..oh and of a great success story, The Shuttlecocks!
Now, who are they...?

First newsletter of the 2024 year

We have a new feature which seems to be called “The Wisdom of Solomon” (a monthly bridge tip)

and a story about a member whose actions one Saturday morning were a little “unwise”

and read about Tim on Tour .... and also a tale of whitebait, ginger and chokos. Now, which club member are we talking about?

take a read and find out!

December Newsletter

One promise. This is the last club newsletter for 2023...promise!

So, enjoy...especially the pictures of the cup winners at the Te Aroha Christmas Party this year.

There’s a little story about coming “second best”

and a couple of nice bridge hands.....some advice about opening leads included!

Now some stories of what has happened to you during the Christmas/New Year break would please the Newsletter editor immensely. Do not be shy!

compliments of the season.

November Newsletter

Pride of place this month to our new Life Member, Laurie and to the election
of our new committee at the AGM.

Yet, there’s plenty more like a visit to Chicago, a revisit to the Rugby World Cup (surely we did not
lose by one point? That was just a nightmare!) and a slam hand that became a nightmare for one pair,
a nightmare that had a happy ending.

enjoy

Richard

October Newsletter

What has been happening at the club during the last few weeks?

Have a read... there’s coverage of more than one visit by Thames players,
of a local player’s successful trip to the southernmost state of the USA ...

and of what partner should always produce... the perfect dummy
